Bharati Vidyapeeth Deemed to be University, New Law College, Pune hosted an event in association with Abhay Nevagi & Associates, Pune. Titled ‘Finishing Law School: Lawyers in Making’, the programme was especially crafted for the final year students as they are about to attain their law degrees.
New Law College (NLC) believes that the process for creating successful and global lawyers closely corresponds to the art of making pottery. The students are modeled on traditional and modern legal knowledge. The idea behind the event was to create a stiff pedestal of professional, practical and corporate excellence.
The core committee of the occasion included: Prof. Dr. Mukund Sarda, Dean & Principal of New Law College, Advocate Abhay Nevagi, founder of Abhya Nevagi and Associates, Advocate Kailash Nevagi, Advocate Sadanand Chingale and Advocate Santosh Shah.
Several senior advocates and judges from the Supreme Court and High Court graced the event. Besides, prominent business leaders also became a part. All the guests imparted their valuable experience to the students and enlightened them. The participants had the chance to get a clearer notion of the skill-set demanded by the legal and the corporate world.
Dr Mukund Sarda felicitated Advocate Abhay Nevagi during the inauguration of the event. Moreover, he also honored Shri JP Cama and Shri Shekhar Naphade, the senior advocates of Supreme Court, by presenting them a token of respect.
The main objective of the event was to enhance and inculcate professional skills among the students. Principal of New Law College informed that the programme is designed to transform the argumentative, debating and leadership qualities of the law students.
The students got an opportunity to interact with the practicing lawyers, retired judges, police officers and law officials on a one-on-one basis. The event extended from September 23 to October 9 this year. The programme was successful in instilling a first-hand experience of meeting law officials under the same roof.
